The 7 Chakras Explained: How to Balance Your Energy Centers for Healing

Within your body flows an invisible river of life force energy — known as prana in Sanskrit, chi in Chinese tradition, and ki in Japanese. Along this river are seven main energy centers called chakras (a Sanskrit word meaning “wheel” or “disk”), each spinning with its own frequency, color, and domain of life.

When your chakras are balanced and open, energy flows freely, and you experience vitality, emotional wellbeing, mental clarity, and spiritual connection. When a chakra is blocked or overactive, you may notice physical symptoms, emotional patterns, or life challenges in the area it governs.

A Simple Chakra Balancing Practice

Lie down comfortably. Place corresponding crystals on each chakra point if you have them. Starting at the root, visualize a spinning wheel of colored light at each center, moving upward. Breathe deeply into each chakra, imagining the light growing brighter and fuller. Spend 2–3 minutes at each center. When you reach the crown, let white light pour down through all seven centers, unifying them.
